Affiliates    AboutWong Kar-Wai is an amazing Hong Kong producer/director/writer. His films 2046, In the Mood for Love, and Chungking Express are probably some of his most well known for American Audiences, but that is just the tip of his wonderful filmography. My personal favorite WKW movie is Fallen Angels. Another favorite, which has recently celebrated its 10th anniversary is Happy Together. He has won several awards during his career and is the first Chinese director to win the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Also, I feel a need to note that he probably makes the prettiest films you will ever get the chance to watch. I often find myself needing to rewatch WKW films because I spent so much time looking at how pretty it is, I missed dialougue. Of course, one also probably needs to rewatch his films because those are the kinds of films he makes; ones that require you to think.I realize many of his films may be an aquired taste because they often have a slow pacing, but after sitting through them I think you will find they were worth the time and effort spent. You can find a (hopefully) complete list of the films he has directed/produced and written below, but first a few personal facts. WKW was originally born in Shanghai and emigrated to Hong Kong when he was five years old. He is married to Esther and has a song named Cheng and spends a good deal of his time in New York.
