Want to be one? AboutTachiki Noriko is the main character in Hikawa Kyoko's fourteen volume fantasy shoujo manga series Kanata Kara (From Far Away in the US). Noriko is your average ordinary teenage girl (though she does have an especially vivid imagination and interesting dreams). One day she ends up transported to a strange land (a strange forest with damgerous looking killer plants in a strange land to be specific). She is rescued by Izark Kia Taj, a traveling warrior. Despite the fact that Noriko finds herself in a strange land, with people who speak a language she can't understand and which has very odd plants and animal life, she decides to trust Izark.The following section contains spoilers We soon find out that Noriko is actually The Awakening, someone from another world who is supposed to release the Sky Demon. Izark would happen to be that Sky Demon. Izark was originally in the forest becasue he was planning to find The Awakening before anyone else and destroy it. Izark finds himself unable to do anything Noriko because she is just a defenseless young girl. Before either of them releases it, they have fallen in love with each other and realize they can't go on without each other in their lives. Noriko becomes distraught when she realizes she is the one who is supposed to cause Izark to turn into the Sky Demon, a force of great evil. Together, they decide to try and change their fate. Maybe the Sky Demon and Awakening can be a source of great goo instead of powerful evil? Along the way they meet and befriend many wonderful people who stick by them in their most trying hours and discover things about themselves they never imagined. Noriko helps Izark realize he has good in him and is not the terrible monster he was also told her was/would become (in fact she accepts his 'monster' side without even blinking an eye, because being seperated from him was more frightening to her than his appearance). Izark, in turn, helps Noriko realize that even an ordinary person, simply doing the little bit they can, can make a huge difference. Section containg spoilers ends Noriko is a really special shoujo heroine. At a first glance, you can't help but notice how adorable she is, but it isn't until you begin to get to know her better that you realize what truly makes her special. She has no flashy special powers to speak of and often has moments of doubt, despite that, she has a great impact on those around her. She is an eternal optimist and always tries to look at life in a positive way. She thinks that no matter what happens (even seemingly bad things), everything things happen for a reason and all she can do is try to make the most of it. She is extremely loyal and will do anything to help those she cares for, especially Izark. She promises him that she will stay with him forever, and despite many efforts by the villians of the story to seperate them, she always makes her way back to him (mainly because of sheer determination on her part, no matter how great the obstacles). I named this fanlisting Just An Ordinary Girl, because I think it is very fitting for Noriko. She says throughout the story that she's an ordinary girl, but eventually the readers and her realize that that isn't an especially bad thing and that even ordinary people play important roles in people's lives simply by being themselves.
