Read on at your own risk.Basics Kousaka Yuri and Terashima Nobu are two characters from the hugely popular Yazawa Ai hit series, Nana. Nobu is the guitarist of Black Stones (other members being Yasu on drums, Shin on bass and Nana O. as the lead singer), the punk rock band (known as Blast for short) that is a rival of Trapnest (comprised of Takumi, Naoki, Reira, and Ren) in the series. Kousaka Yuri is the stage name of Matsumoto Asami, an AV (Adult Video) actress who lives in the same dorm as Blast. How Their Relationship Came About Nobu had a very short lived relationship with Hachi. It went like this: He had had feelings for her for quite awhile before finally being able to admit them to her. Hachi accepted his feelings and began dating him. She however could not get Takumi out of her mind (or say no to the man apparently) and much angst and heartache ensued for our dear Nobu. He was very torn up over Hachi choosing Takumi. Yuri had been mooning over/flirting/trying to get Nobu for a long while (basically since they first met). At Reira's 21st birthday party Yuri told Nobu she could make him forget all about Hachi, an offer that Nobu (or any sane red blooded male most likely) couldn't pass up. Their Relationship in Current Chapters At the present time Nobu and Yuri are still together (and atm, are probably one of the only stable couples left of our main cast). While their relationship started out with sex and a way for Nobu to escape heartache, they have been making a very serious effort at making it work. It has moved on from a mainly physical relationship and both have strong feelings for each other. Nobu has been trying to support Yuri and she has been trying (imo) to be stronger for his benefit. I think they are really cute together (that scene when Yuri runs into Nobu's room cause she's scared? Way too cute!) and just perfect for each other (they balance each other really well). Nobu/Yuri and the Nana Fandom aka Rosemary defends Yuri This would be where I rant. Some people may find my following comments offensive, but those people probably wouldn't be visiting the Nobu/Yuri fanlisting anyway :P Yuri is quite possibly the most hated character in the fandom right now (her only competition would probably be Shouji or Sachiko who also get the brunt of the fandom's hate/mean comments). Why do people hate her? Well honestly, I'm still waiting for someone to supply me with an actual answer. To put it simply, people hate her because she is screwing Nobu. I am of the mind people in the fandom would hate anyone Nobu was with because he is apparently Hachi's soulmate (zomg OTP land) even though they had a relationship that lasted a measly volume and Hachi was not a good match for him. Yes, you read that correctly, I do not think Hachi was a good match for Nobu. Hachi needs someone like Takumi who can put her in her place when needed. Nobu was too nice/goody goody for her, imo. (I personally love Hachi/Takumi and from what we have seen they have a very happy and adorable family in the future!)
This brings me to another reason I've recently thought about as to why people dislike Yuri and her relationship with Nobu so much. Before he begins a relationship with Yuri, he is very pure/good/prince charming like. Yuri made him human. The Nobu of Hachi otp land lore would never screw some AV actress to forget another woman, right? Well, apparently he would, but the fandom at large has issues coming to terms with canon reality so as far as they are concerned he wouldn't. I've also seen people say they dislike Yuri because she is annoying and a whore/prostitute. First, while I think this is obvious, it is not to everyone apparently: AV actress does not equal prostitute (do we ever see people hating on Shin who actually did sell himself for money? No, of course not *waves hello to fandom double standard*) To dispute these annoying and whore claims I shall compare Yuri to Hachi (who is apparently a female ideal as far as a vast majority of the fandom is concered). I'll pause for a second to say I may be a tad biased seeing as I've never been a huge Hachi fan, but even if she was the next best thing since sliced bread, I'd be willing to acknowledge the following points. Point one: Hachi is just as annoying if not more so than Yuri is. They are actually quite alike in several ways when you step back and think about it. I can personally tolerate Yuri's 'annoying' moments a heck of a lot more than Hachi's. Second Point: Yuri despite popular opinion is not the whore of Tokyo. We don't see her screwing every male in sight, whereas we do see Hachi find her way into the beds of four men during the series. To be practical, I'm sure Yuri has slept with the men she's dated/seen, but since we don't actually see that, I find it hard to swallow that people can call Yuri a whore when we see other characters sleep with alot more men (or women if we're picking up my Shin reference from before xD) than she has in the time she has been in the series. I feel a need to note I adore Shin and do not hold his profession for most of the series against him, but fair is fair. *gets off soapbox* Please now proceed to the pretty codes and join the fanlisting while here! ^_^ CodesDonate a code?
