About

Momo (Goda Takeshi) and Iwaya Sumire are the two main characters in the fourteen volume long manga series Kimi wa Pet (Tramps Like Us in the US) by Yayoi Ogawa. In Spring 2003 a Kimi wa Pet jdrama (Japanese TV series) began airing. It was ten episodes long and starred Jun Matsumoto as Momo and Koyuki as Sumire.

Sumire is a sucessful and happy career woman until one day she finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her. Then she finds herself demoted at work. When she returns home from work she finds a young (seemingly) homeless man sitting on her doorstep. Sumire decides to keep him as a pet. Momo, is happy to go along with that (for reasons we find out as the story progresses). It becomes obvious early on that Momo falls for Sumire quickly and he puts up with ALOT because of that fact. Sumire on the other hand is too dense for the majority of the manga to realize why it is she'd be lost if Momo was no longer in her life. Wathcing the two of them live together, grow together, and get through life's difficulties and hardships together is what makes their relationship so beautiful and captivating in my opinion. They have alot of funny moments, lots of angsty moments (well it is shoujo xD) and lots of tender moments.

The following is the basic about info from the TokyoPop website:
Fed-up with a life of being under-appreciated and disrespected, Sumire Iwaya decides to change things when she picks up a young boy off the street and brings him into her house. Despite being total opposites, the two seem to complement one another as they try to carve out an ordinary life for themselves.
