Linda is Canadian and began her modeling career in the 1980s after being discovered at the Miss Teen Niagara Contest. During her career she was instrumental in improving the wages and jobs/exposure models received. She is extremely well known for saying, "We don't wake up for less than $10,000 a day," to Jonathan Van Meyer in Vogue in 1990. She is also well known for her ever changing hairstyles, which led to her getting the nickname 'The Chameleon.'
Throughout her career, Linda has not been afraid to make waves. She has been outspoken and has walked her own path, even if it hurts her career (like when she cut her hair very short in the late '80s which led to her being cancelled for all the runway shows that season). In addition to her career as a model, she has become a role model for other women, raising breast cancer and aids awareness over the years. She truly fits the expression, 'More Than Just a Pretty Face.'
